How to set startup wizard?

For the security consideration, you should be initialize the device after factory default.

Prerequisites

  • Dahua XVR (GUI4.0) running the latest firmware.
  • A display connected to the Dahua recorder.

Step by Step Instruction

The Startup Wizard helps you configure the basic settings to set up the Device.

1. Auto-check for updates

If you enable Auto-check for updates, the system will notify you automatically when updates are available.

The device should be in the Internet to realize the function.

Note: If you forgot the setting, you can set it in “MAIN MENU -> SYSTEM -> UPGRADE”.


2. General

1) Set Device Name and Device No. for project management.

2) Set the system language according to usage habits.

3) Set the Video Standard as the country situation. Select PAL if the country supply frequency is 50Hz. Select NTSC if the country supply frequency is 60Hz.

4) Set the Instant Play Time (5-60min) for instant playback.

5) Set the Auto Logout Time (0-60min) & Locked Channel for temporary absences. Click Monitor Channel(s) when logout to select the channels that you want to continue monitoring when you logged out.

6) Enable the Navigation Bar for convenient operation in live view.

7) Adjust the Mouse Sensitivity according to usage habits.

Note: If you forgot the setting, you can set it in “MAIN MENU -> SYSTEM -> GENERAL”.


 3. Date&Time

1) You can manually set the System Time and System Zone according to the country time and zone.

    Alternatively, the device can automatically update synchronized time from NTP Server. To realize this function, you should enable NTP, set the NTP Server address or domain name, set the TCP Port (123 is default setting, set the synchronization Interval time(0-65536min).

2) Set the Date Format, Date Separator and Time Format according to usage habits.

3) If the country use DST, you can set the DST duration (Start Time and End Time) according to the country situation.

Note: If you forgot the setting, you can set it in “MAIN MENU -> SYSTEM -> GENERAL”.

                                                                                                       

4. Network

You should set the recorder IP address if you want to connect the recorder with network.

1) Set IP Version as IPv4 or IPv6 (IPv4 is default setting).

2) If you enable the DHCP, the device will be assigned the dynamic IP address by DHCP server, such as router.

3) If you disable the DHCP, the device can be manually set the static IP address.

  • Set IP Address and Subnet Mask.
  • Make sure all devices in the LAN are in the same network segment and the IP address should be different with each other.
  • The Default Gateway should be the first IP host address in the network.


5. P2P

  • You can add the Device into your cell phone client or the platform to manage.
  • You can also configure P2P function by selecting Main Menu > NETWORK > P2P.

Note: Make sure the DVR is connected into the Internet, and if yes, in the Status box of the P2P interface, it shows Online.

6. Encode Settings

  • You can configure the settings of main stream and sub stream for the Device.
  • You can also configure encode settings by selecting Main Menu > CAMERA > ENCODE >Encode.

  • Bit Rate Type: In the Bit Rate Type list, select CBR (Constant Bit Rate) or VBR (Variable Bit Rate). If you select CBR, the image quality cannot be configured; if you select VBR, the image quality can be configured.

7. Snapshot Settings

  • You can configure the basic snapshot settings such as quantity of snapshot each time, channel(s) to take snapshot, and image size and quality of snapshot.
  • You can also configure general settings by selecting Main Menu > CAMERA > ENCODE >Snapshot.

Manual Snap
In the Manual Snap list, select how many snapshots you want to take each time.
Channel
In the Channel list, select the channel that you want to configure the settings for.
Mode
In the Mode list, select type of snapshots.
Image Size
In the Image Size list, select a value for the image.
Image Quality
Configure the image quality by 6 levels. The higher the level, the better the image will become.
Interval
Configure or customize the snapshot frequency.


8. Basic Storage Settings

  • You can configure the settings for the situations when HDD is full, file length and time length of recorded video, and the settings if to auto-delete the old files.
  • You can also configure basic storage settings by selecting Main Menu > STORAGE > BASIC.

HDD Full: It is to select working mode when hard disk is full.

  •    Select Stop Record to stop recording
  •    Select Overwrite to overwrite the recorded video files always from the earliest time.

Package Mode: There are two ways for you to set: Time Length or File Length.

Auto Delete Old Files: Never or Customized.


9. Recorded Video Storage Schedule

  • You can configure the schedule for the recorded video such as channels to record, alarm settings, and the armed period.
  • You can also configure recorded video storage settings by selecting Main Menu > STORAGE >SCHEDULE > Record.

Note: Define the video recording period by drawing or editing. By default, it is active all the time.

Define the period by drawing.

1)Select the check box of event type.

2) Define a period. The system supports maximum six periods.

  • Define for the whole week: Click next to All, all the icon switches to   , you can define the period for all the days simultaneously.
  • Define for several days of a week: Click   before each day one by one, the icon switches to . You can define the period for the selected days simultaneously.

3) On the timeline, drag to define a period. The Device starts recoding the selected event type in the defined period.

Note: Recording priority in case of event types are overlapped: MD&Alarm > Alarm >Intel > MD > General.


10. Snapshot Storage Schedule

  • You can configure the storage schedule for the snapshot such as channels to take snapshot, alarm settings, and the armed period.
  • You can also configure snapshot storage settings by selecting Main Menu > STORAGE >SCHEDULE > Snapshot.
